FreePass: Revolutionizing the Admission Journey

FreePass is an innovative iOS, Android, and Web app designed to simplify and revolutionize the admission process for companies. With its intuitive interface, it empowers applicants to submit information and documents effortlessly, streamlining the onboarding process for new hires.

FreePass also offers Light and Dark modes, enabling users to personalize their experience, while companies benefit from a more efficient, structured application process.

The traditional onboarding process is often slow, inefficient, and confusing for applicants. Companies face challenges managing data while providing a smooth user experience.

To understand more, we conducted stakeholder interviews with HR teams to uncover their main pain points, followed by user interviews with applicants to understand their frustrations and expectations during the onboarding process.

These insights helped us identify the core issues and guided our design decisions to create a solution that benefits both companies and applicants.

Responsibilities & Tools

Understanding the Problem

The design process began with a collaborative effort to align on goals and features.

Wireframes and User Flow Mapping:
Teaming with the Project Owner, we created low-fidelity wireframes in Miro to define key user flows. We prioritized essential features for the MVP and identified potential bottlenecks in the user journey. This ensured the core functionality was focused on solving the most critical problems.

Design Collaboration:
Initially, the pages were designed in Sketch, but due to changes in the company structure, we transitioned to Figma mid-project. This switch improved collaboration across teams and enabled a more seamless handoff between design and development.

I collaborated closely with Leonardo Botelho, an excellent Product Designer who joined the team to support the project.

Design System Development:
We developed a flexible design system that supported both Light and Dark themes. This system allowed for rapid iterations and ensured consistency across all screens, while giving users a customizable interface.

Design Process

FreePass is an innovative mobile and web app designed to simplify the onboarding process for both applicants and HR teams.

By enabling users to easily submit required documents and track their progress in real-time, the app reduces friction in what is typically a tedious process.

Key features include streamlined document submissions, guided workflows, and an intuitive dashboard that provides real-time updates on the status of each form, ensuring transparency throughout the admission process.

Developed with a user-centered design approach, FreePass was built with scalability in mind. Over 200 pages were designed, and the product underwent multiple iterations and rounds of usability testing within the company, refining critical aspects of the user flow and interface.

Although the project was progressing well, it was discontinued due to external factors within the company. Following this, I created an improved, brand-agnostic version, rebranding the product as FreePass.

Solution

LIGHT THEME

LIGHT THEME

We developed a flexible design system that allowed for easy color adjustments, making the creation of the light theme straightforward.

Users can seamlessly switch between the light and dark themes or opt to follow their phone’s default setting. The design and development teams also benefited from the efficiency of the system, enabling quick and easy theme switching during implementation.

Originally designed for a confidential technology company in Brazil, the FreePass project underwent significant improvements and iterations after the company halted its development. During this phase, the project was rebranded as FreePass, complete with a new fictional logo and identity that aligned with its broader purpose and potential impact. The user interfaces were iterated based on findings from usability research, resulting in a more refined, brand-agnostic solution.
